About the composition

This piece is written in the habanera rhythm. It requires from the interpreter a certain amount of skill and capability in multitasking. However Ruediger Clauss, principal cellist of the Frankfurt Theater- und Museumsorchester, keeps to what is possible, e.g. when the left hand plucks the melody in thumb position while the bow accompanies col legno battuto on two open strings.
An ambitious solo piece.
