About the composers
Hauke HackThe Publisher
Hauke Hack (*1967) is primarily a cellist, playing in a professional orchestra, organizing and performing in cello ensembles and other chamber music groups, giving courses, conducting a large amateur string orchestra, and occasionally composing music. His compositions and cello ensemble arrangements are created for various celebrations, specific concerts, or dedicated to individual performers. Meander was written for his daughter Anouchka Hack.
He studied composition with Günther Cellarius (Clara Schumann Music School) and Prof. Manfred Reiter (Cologne University of Music).
Traudl Herrmann (*1965) is a German cellist, chamber musician and cello teacher.

About the composition
Hack/Herrmann/Lenz: 4 pieces in various combinations - This small collection contains 2 tangos by Traudl Herrmann, a cellist in Mainz. The “Tango for 4” she wrote for her string quartet, the Amonta Quartet. This edition comprises 3 versions of Tango for 4: for cello quartet, string quartet and cello duo. The second tango is written for 3 cellos. Both tangos have accessible themes which are distributed around all the parts.
The “Seven variations on a Youthful Theme” by the Muenster cellist Frieder Lenz are written for 4 cellos. The eight bar theme comprises harmonics exclusively and at the beginning it is played in unison in all four parts.
SECRET CONNECTION could be the title of this collection about which everyone can have their own thoughts about what sort of connection. It is also the title of a one movement cello quartet which has already been successfully performed in “Jugend musiziert”. The movement has the form of A-B-A’-B’; two contrasting parts, part A romantic and calm, part B fast and in a rock idiom. This piece by Hauke Hack has many changes in time signature which can be played by advanced pupils and give the piece rhythmic kick. The score and parts are printed on 33 pages of high quality paper.
