About the composer
Yôko NakamuraYôko Nakamura (*1957) started learning composition at the age of 15 under Masato Uchida, who studied under André Jolivet at the Paris Conservatoire. She graduated from the Composition Department, Faculty of Music, TokyoUniversity of the Arts, where she studied under Prof. Atsutada Otaka, who learned from H. Dutilleux, M. Bitsch and M. Deruflé. At the same time she learned from the late composer T. Ikenouchi, who was the first Japanese to graduate from Paris Conservatoire and introduced the Écriture of the Paris Conservatoire to Japan. In 2007 Yôko Nakamura released the CD "Wolfgang Boettcher plays Japan", which contains her "Suite No.1 for unaccompanied cello". That Suite is published at "Ries&Erler, Berlin".
Her Rainbow cello trios for young cellists are published by the Musikverlag Hauke Hack.

The second and last part of the “Ten Fantasies” by the Japanese composer Yoko Nakamura for 4 young cellists is now published with the movements “Four canary birds”, “Evening twilight”, “Spanish garden”, “Dragon in the magic land” and “Postludium, Crocus blossom”.
- “Four canary birds” is a jovial piece in C major in a 6/8 rhythm where a dotted rhythm wanders through all four parts. - “Evening twilight" is also in C major and is mainly homophonic. - In “Spanish garden” the melody begins in the 4th. cello and later moves to the 1st. cello. The piece is full of off-beat semiquavers. The sections A-B-A are in the keys G minor, G major and G minor. - “Dragon in the magic land” is written in a fugato style with homophonic parts. In this piece pupils can get to know some atonal music which also contains some tonal elements. - The Postludium “Crocus blossom” ends the cycle in a friendly G major.
