About the composition
Two arrangements for 5 cellos:
Johannes Brahms: Un poco Allegretto from the String Quintet op. 111, arranged by Hauke Hack, and Henri Letocart: Méditation (originally for organ), arranged by Christoph Habicht.
According to the publisher, Johannes Brahms' String Quintet op. 111 is one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever written. For this reason, the second viola part was rewritten for a second cello for an existing ensemble (Edition No. 40b). The third movement of the quintet was particularly suitable for performance by five accomplished cellists.
Henri Letocart's Méditation is his most well known piece for organ.
Both movements delight with their respective harmonies.
